Keeping your little one clean, dry, and comfortable makes you to feel like a full-time job and the various products available in the market also makes whole outlook very overwhelming.
Generally, infant skin is thinner, more fragile and less oily when compared to adult’s skin.
Newborns skin is less resistant to bacteria and other harmful materials, particularly when it is irritated.
Newborns sweat less commonly, so it is harder for them to maintain the inner body temperature. Alternatively, most of the babies are less prone to respond to the allergens.
In the first few weeks after the birth of your baby, the baby retains some of your hormones. Due to this, various minor skin diseases can happen, which generally disappear in few days.
Skin conditions that are most common during infancy include:
Infant acne:
This condition is the appearance of pink spots on your baby’s face. After the birth, newborns still retain the mother’s hormones for short period of time, so infant acne occurs. Usually, this disappears on its own in few weeks, otherwise consult your health care provider.
Heat rash:
Upset stomachs, colds, and rashes are the most common baby ailments.
The incidence of one or more of these symptoms can result in a serious allergic reaction.
If you cannot recognize these symptoms, your baby’s condition becomes miserable and malnourished.
Every year more than 100,000 babies are suffering from milk allergy.
This condition can lead to respiratory, skin and digestive problems that are often very difficult to recognize.
Milk allergy in infants is treated by eliminating the milk proteins from the mother’s diet or by replacing the infant regular formula with amino acid based formula.
Here are the signs to recognize the milk allergy in your infant:
Diarrhea:
The most common condition in babies is diarrhea. If the condition is persistent or you recognize blood in the stool, then it is the more severe milk allergy symptom.
Skin rash:
Various causes result in infant skin rashes like eczema, among which milk allergy is one possible cause, particularly when the rash comes out along with any of these symptoms.
Gassiness:
All most all infants have gas, but if it comes out along with any of these symptoms, then it is the sign of an allergy to proteins in the milk.
While summer is still blooming, it’s good to get your baby outside and into the fresh air. Here are some tips that can make it easier.
1. Have an outside bag. Your outside bag should have more than a typical diaper bag.
You need to make sure you’ve got sunscreen, a thin but large blanket or sheet (for spreading on the ground), baby safe bug spray, plenty of water, and some distracting toys.
Fresh air is great, but the distracting toys means your baby may be less inclined to eat grass and flowers, and more inclined to play.
2. Use a baby sling or baby carrier for tiny babies, or older babies who are content to be carried in the great outdoors. Kids should be allowed to crawl around (or walk) outside, but little ones tire quickly and a sling can save the day.
3. If you’re not into baby carriers, a lightweight stroller with a cover or umbrella is good.
4. Take a shovel and pail for older babies. This is a totally multi functional pair of toys. Your little one can scoop sand, gravel, rocks, bark chips, and more into her pail. Some little ones just like to carry the pail and put pine cones and leaves into it.
Shaken baby syndrome is the most severe form of head injury that occurs by aggressively shaking the baby. This syndrome can arise from as little as 5 seconds of shaking the baby.
Shaking takes place when your baby cries miserably and the aggravated care giver loses the control.
Shaking your baby sometimes results in severe head injury to the baby, permanent brain damage or even death.
Injuries are more likely to occur when there is both acceleration and deceleration.
Hitting with a soft object like mattress or pillow can lead to severe injuries to your newborn. Shaken baby syndrome is usually seen in infants less than 2 years of age.
What happens when your baby is shaken?
- When an infant is shaken, brain bounces back and forth against his/her skull. This can lead to bruising of the brain, swelling, pressure, and finally leading to bleeding in the brain.
- Larger veins along the outer side of your baby’s brain can tear, which leads to further swelling, bleeding and increased pressure. Finally this can even lead to permanent brain damage or death.
When choosing toys for your baby or toddler, make sure you inspect them carefully for things that could cause injury.
The American Academy of Family Physicians offers these guidelines when choosing safe child toys:
- Make sure each toy is sturdy, well-made, and appropriate for your child’s age.
- Don’t let your baby play with toys that have sharp edges or points, or small parts.
- Make sure parts fit securely and are not loose.
- Read labels to check for safety information. Look for toys that are non-toxic, washable and hygienic.
- Don’t let your baby play with any toys that are smaller than 1 3/4 inches in diameter or 2 inches long, as these may pose a choking hazard.

Any baby can be affected with yeast infection in the moist diaper area. If the mother has yeast infection during her pregnancy, then there are greater chances for it to transmit to the baby.
Infant yeast infection can also result if the mother does not properly take care of her infant’s vaginal area. Inappropriate bathing to your child can also result in yeast infection.
The yeast infection usually begins with a diaper rash, but does not disappear that much easily and do not heal like a diaper rash.
But, sometimes it is very hard to tell the variation between infant yeast infection and the diaper rash. It can often be confused with diaper rash as this area is the most commonly affected area in every infant. The second most common type of infant’s yeast infection is oral thrush in your infant’s mouth.
If your baby sucks your thumb or fingers, your baby can get yeast infection. If the yeast infection occurs in the diaper area, then you can use special topical ointments.
Symptoms of infant yeast infection:
In some cases, your infant can experience full blown systemic-candidiasis symptoms. But, those who suffer from Candida infection symptoms, the effect and pain on their life are very severe.

There is so much to think about while selecting the right name for your baby like: your own ideas, your partner’s ideas, your family tradition, the names you have already given to the baby’s sister or brother, etc.
Picking the right baby name is one of the most important things that you need to decide during your pregnancy period only.
Select the name that your baby is going to love, but not the name that your baby will hate or be made of fun.
Tips to consider while selecting the best name for your child:
1. The origin of the name:
Origin of the name helps you to choose what type of name you like most. Also, this can add an aspect of history to your kid. For example, name your baby with an English name because originally the ancestors belong to only that region. It means a lot to all the family members. This doesn’t mean that you need to select the names that only go with your custom.
2. Sound of the name:
