Different forms of baby acne that occur commonly are Neonata milia, Neonatal acne and infantile acne.

The acne is diagnosed by the health care provider when it is observed on your baby’s skin. The physical examinations are conducted by the dermatologists to detect the acne on the body of your baby. The laboratory tests are not needed for its determination.

Treating the baby acne with self-care:

Do not touch, squeeze, rub, scratch or pick the acne of your baby. Do not use the greasy creams or cosmetics.

The affected area should be cleaned by Aquanil Cleansing Lotion, clean water and mild soap daily. To remove the acne, 5% of Benzoyl Peroxide lotion is very effective. You can use this lotion for babies of 3 months age.

If the acne is not treated by this method, you can use the medications to treat the acne. The creams or lotions that contain the salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol or sulfur can be applied on the affected area.

These creams can kill the bacteria and can lead to peeling of your baby’s skin. You can consult a pediatrician, if acne is still a problem.

You can use the prescribed medicines that include:

  • Topical antibiotics like erythromycin or clindamycin.
  • The oral antibiotics like the tetracycline, minocycline and doxycycline.
  • The Retina A drug.

Exposure to the sun for little time can improve the acne in your child.

Baby acne prevention:

  • Give your baby more quantity of water and fresh fruit juices to drink.
  • Don’t allow your baby to touch, squeeze, pick or dig the acne.
  • To pat the affected area, use the paper towels and throw them away after using.
  • You should take care that your child does not sleep on pillows that are dirty.

You can treat the baby acne with the help of some medicines that are prescribed by the pediatrician.
