Many parents of newborns have, by now heard of the voluntary recall of Similac, infant formula and if you are wondering what to do about it, here is some information –
- There has been a recall of certain Similac products since there is the apprehension that beetles and their larvae could have infected the products because of which babies may “experience symptoms of gastrointestinal discomfort and refusal to eat”. The health risk is termed as not serious but that if symptoms persist a doctor should be called.
- If you have any of the products at home then check the lot no. (It is at the bottom of the product); if it matches the numbers given in this Similac Recall Lot Numbers list, then call the manufactures Abbot, at (800) 986-8850 to return the products to them. The company will pay for this and
- Products in cans with the letter and/or number combination in the middle of the lot number – T3 or RE or 9V or NT are not under recall.
- Liquid formulas, and Similac Expert CareTM Alimentum, Elecare, Similac Expert CareTM Neosure, Similac Human Milk Fortifier, and metabolic formulas are also not under recall.
