With the New Year come reports of the baby names that make the list for most popular new born baby names and these always seem to be affected by the kind of names that popular celebrities choose for their newborns. An estimated 50% of expectant moms try to derive inspiration for baby names from what the celebs choose to name their little ones.
Popular Celebrity baby names of the past year
Consider the fact that celebrity couple David and Victoria Beckham’s brand new daughter (after three sons and therefore much awaited) has been named Harper Seven and that particular name has shot right up in the popularity ratings.
In fact it is something of a new trend, to use colors and numbers for baby names in recent times. Another example of this is the name picked by Beyonce and Jay-Z for their daughter, which is Blue Ivy.
Then there is the fact that the Kardashians’ choice of baby name, Mason has also catapulted that name into the top five baby boy names, when Kourtney Kardashian picked this name for her son.
Very popular shows and movies also have an obvious impact on the names that find favor with new parents. Witness how Jacob and Bella have become so popular after the resounding success of the Twilight Series.
It isn’t just actors and other performing artists and reality show stars that affect what is trending among baby names. British royalty also tends to affect what names become more popular especially with the royal wedding last year. So Will, Harry, Kate and even Pippa have risen in popularity.
